Sounds like a plan Dazza... When I was but a lad, I once had the privilege of meeting Ray Hanna (a founding member of, and then a leader of "The Red Arrows"), and then listening to him talk to my father and his friends. One of the things Ray Hanna said, that I remember to this day, was, "There are very few things more challenging than flying a low powered, low inertia, high drag aircraft at low speed and low altitude..." Seemed at the time like a funny thing for a high performance pilot like him to say... Now I know it's true...
Go see your CFI with your logbook and see what he says... What's the worst case scenario? That he'll have you do some training that you intend to do anyway? I understand and agree with what Michael said above. The only thing I'm not keen on is carrying logbooks in our aircraft. But I can see where it may become neccessary to have photo copies of your endorsements with you, as well as your pilot certificate and medical certificate if applicable... Damn: Will the day come when a pilot will be recognisable by the "man bag" he has over his shoulder to carry all the paperwork? If that happens we may have to wear smaller watches to save weight, eh...
It was Marc Auer who signed it.But unfortunately he didnt print his name. Crafty little frenchmen.Thankyou for the heads up Michael
I met Rays son Mark Hannah at Wanaka in 1998 and at Duxford a few months later in the same year.RIP to both of them.
As there sometimes isn't room to write a full name as well as a signature, the RAA member number provides a key into RAA's records. I wonder if RAA understand the complexity of the record keeping as it needs to not only be "here and now", but a chronological record of award and recision of Certificates, Endorsements, Ratings and Approvals. After all it isn't valid for someone to sign you off if they did not hold the correct Approvals at the time, regardless of what they hold now. RAA need to be able to pick a date and list your attributes (above) at that date. This is why I was sceptical of the claim that ATSB used the FTF listing on RAA's web site in October to see if a specific FTF was registered in May!
David in support of your skepticism, you were correct, the ATSB went way deeper than than just looking at the web site details of FTFs when they made their assertion and we know this was preliminary data and it will be clarified in the final report. I am of the view their data was correct but that there is no real issue, it was more a data entry issue than a breach.
